Austin and Kellerman Graduate from Future Leaders Alliance
Pinckneyville – Kara D. Austin, (Electronic Banking Specialist, Deposit Operations & Data Processing) and Kathy Kellerman, Assistant Vice President / Teller Supervisor, Murphy-Wall State Bank, Pinckneyville, have graduated from the Future Leaders Alliance (FLA) offered through the Illinois Bankers Association (IBA). The graduation commencement was conducted during the IBA’s annual ONE Conference at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria on March 1. The thirteen-month FLA program is dedicated to enhancing the professional development of promising bank leaders through three primary components: education, community service and networking.

Participants were involved in comprehensive training, including attending educational sessions and performing local community service. Kellerman reported the program gave her “leadership, teambuilding, and networking skills” to springboard her career. She reached out to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 7047, giving them a “Teach Kids to Save” presentation, as well as a lecture on banking services to Mrs. Donna Waller’s Business & Consumer Management class at Elverado High School. Austin spoke with the Pinckneyville Senior Citizens Club about fraud and identity theft, noting it was a great experience. She was the recipient of the People’s Bank & Trust in Pana’s “Tomorrow’s Future Today” scholarship.
Kellerman recently announced that she and Austin will be attending the upcoming American Bankers Association’s Government Relations Summit in Washington D.C. The ABA provides only two emerging leaders from each state $750.00 in scholarship dollars to attend. Kellerman received this honor.
The education sessions covered core topics such as Leadership and Influence, Communication, Team Building, Coaching, Financial Marketing and Branding, Legislative Process, Accounting for Bankers, Asset Liability Management, Regulatory Hot Topics, executed an on-line banking simulation, and more.
