MURPHY-WALL STATE BANK ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF SVP KATHY MARLOW
After nearly 45 years of dedicated service with Murphy-Wall State Bank, SVP/Controller/ISO Kathy Marlow has announced her retirement. Marlow began her career at Murphy-Wall State Bank in June of 1974 as a bookkeeper and later became a teller. In 1987, she was promoted to Assistant Cashier, acting as head of the proof dept. and as the bank’s Student Loan Officer. She accepted a promotion to AVP of operations in 1996 and in March 1999, became VP and Data Processing/Bookkeeping Supervisor. Marlow assisted in internal network administration during this time. She was then promoted to Senior Operations Officer in September 2010 and assumed the leading officer duties for the bank’s ACH Origination operations. Her final promotion came in 2015 when named Senior Vice President/Controller/Information Security Officer.
Marlow has completed numerous courses in Banking, Accounting, Business Law, Computers and Networking. She completed her Business Management degree through Mid-Continent University, where she earned President’s List honors. To achieve the President’s List students are required to maintain a career 4.0 grade point average. She was also a member of Sigma Beta Delta, a scholastic honor society that recognizes academic achievement among students in the fields of business, management, and administration.
During Marlow’s career in the banking industry, she served on the Illinois Bankers Association’s Technology and Operations Committee, and attended IBA’s Technology & Operations Forum where peer-to-peer discussions and industry experts assist IT and operations officers to ensure they have up-to-date resources to stay on top of the ever-evolving regulatory, risk management, cost conscious and productivity-driven banking environment. She has given countless hours engaging in many Murphy-Wall State Bank sponsored community events throughout the years, including participating in and construction of award winning Mardi Gras float entries, serving at Panther Kasasa tailgates, and presenting Student of the Year Awards to name a few.
Marlow is the daughter of Debbie and the late Lyle Winter. She is a Trustee of St. Bruno Catholic Church and serves on the church finance council. She lives in Pinckneyville with her husband Robert G. Marlow, Sr. Upon retirement they plan to enjoy traveling, camping, reading, gardening and fishing in their leisure time.
Murphy- Wall State Bank appreciates Kathy’s dedication and hard work throughout the years. Her presence as an employee, as well as a friend will be sorely missed. We wish her and Bob the best that life has to offer as they enjoy this part of their journey.
