Murphy-Wall State Bank and Trust Company Recognizes Arryn Overturf and Mackenna Wesseln as December Students of the Month

Arryn Overturf

After high school, Arryn plans to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to pursue a master’s in business administration. She has been a dedicated member of the varsity cheerleading team for all four years and has consistently demonstrated hard work and determination throughout her time at Pinckneyville. Arryn has served on the Student Council since her freshman year and is an active member of the National Beta Club, where she currently holds the position of president. We are excited to see what the future holds for her and wish her the very best.

Mackenna Wesseln

After high school, Mackenna plans to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Her goal is to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education with a minor in Animal Science. She is actively involved in FFA, Music Makers, school choir, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Mackenna currently serves as the Illinois Association FFA Section 24 President and is also a member of the school’s Beta Club. We look forward to seeing all she will accomplish and wish her the best of luck in her next chapter.

About the Award

At the start of the school year, PCHS seniors were invited to apply for the Murphy-Wall State Bank PCHS Student of the Month by submitting a personal essay of at least 500 words. From twenty-six applicants, in total 12 students including, Eliza Heisner, Lia Farlow, Arryn Overturf, and Mackenna Wesseln along with 8 yet to be named students will be selected to receive the Student of the Month title along with a $50 award. At the end of the school year, one of these twelve will be named Student of the Year and awarded a $1,000 scholarship, while another will be honored as the President’s Scholar, also receiving a $1,000 scholarship.
