Murphy-Wall State Bank and Trust Company Recognizes Gavin Helton and Reed Marlow as January Students of the Month
Gavin Helton
Gavin has been a dedicated member of the Pinckneyville community throughout his school years. He has participated in band since fifth grade, where he developed a strong appreciation for teamwork and discipline. Gavin has also been involved in baseball, appeared in the last two school musicals, and is an active member of Pinckneyville Shooting Sports. He plays in the saxophone quartet that performs the national anthem at local events. Gavin is known for his work ethic, compassion, and commitment to those around him. We look forward to seeing what he pursues after high school and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.
Reed Marlow
Reed has been a dedicated student at PCHS for all four years and is actively involved in both academics and athletics. After high school, he plans to obtain his Registered Nurse license and pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing science, with the ultimate goal of becoming a Nurse Anesthetist. Reed is a member of the National Beta Club and has participated in baseball, basketball, and football, consistently demonstrating leadership and a competitive spirit. He is known for his strong sense of community, determination, and care for others. We are excited to see what lies ahead for Reed and wish him the very best in his journey.
About the Award
At the start of the school year, PCHS seniors were invited to apply for the Murphy-Wall State Bank PCHS Student of the Month by submitting a personal essay of at least 500 words. From twenty-six applicants, in total 12 students including, Eliza Heisner, Lia Farlow, Arryn Overturf, Mackenna Wesseln, Gavin Helton, and Reed Marlow along with 6 yet to be named students will be selected to receive the Student of the Month title along with a $50 award. At the end of the school year, one of these twelve will be named Student of the Year and awarded a $1,000 scholarship, while another will be honored as the President’s Scholar, also receiving a $1,000 scholarship.
