Fraud Awareness Workshop: Know the Signs

Financial scams are becoming more sophisticated, more frequent, and closer to home. From phishing emails and fraudulent phone calls to payment scams and identity theft, fraudsters are constantly finding new ways to target individuals, families, and businesses. These threats don’t just exist online or in far‑off places, they are impacting communities like ours every day.

At Murphy‑Wall State Bank and Trust Company, protecting our customers goes far beyond managing accounts. It includes equipping our community with the knowledge needed to recognize scams before damage is done. Education and awareness are among the most powerful tools available when it comes to fraud prevention.

We are currently exploring interest in hosting a Community Fraud Awareness and Protection Event in our local area. This event would focus on increasing awareness of common scams currently affecting our region, highlighting new and emerging fraud tactics we are seeing, and sharing practical steps individuals can take to protect themselves, their personal information, and their finances. Our goal is to help community members feel more confident recognizing warning signs and making informed decisions.

Before moving forward, we want to hear directly from you. If an event like this is something you would be interested in attending, we invite you to complete a short interest survey. Your feedback will help us determine whether to move ahead and will guide details such as timing, format, and topics of greatest concern to our community.

If there is enough interest, we will continue to share updates and additional information as plans develop. Even if you are unsure about attending, your response still helps us better understand how we can support and protect those we serve. Thank you for your continued trust in Murphy‑Wall State Bank and Trust Company and for partnering with us to keep our community informed and secure.
