Murphy-Wall State Bank Now Open in Marion
Murphy-Wall State Bank and Trust Company has opened a new full-service banking facility in Marion. Improved technological enhancements are being made to ensure a superior customer experience at the Watermark building located just off of Route 13 on the Hill in Marion. We are sending our welcome out to those living, working and traveling through Marion Wildcats territory. Why expand to Marion? Experience. Murphy-Wall State Bank President and CEO Marty Davis explained, “While we may not be the first bank in Marion, a number of members of the management and seasoned staff have already invested portions of their professional careers throughout Williamson County, while building trust with the people of their communities.”
Local Marion resident and Murphy-Wall VP Commercial Lender Kevin Holderby will be assisting in the growth of the Marion facility. With 38 years of lending experience under his belt, Holderby imparted, “A bank has one thing and one thing only to sell, and that is service. Murphy-Wall State Bank and Trust Company has relied on that philosophy for 146 years.” Bailey Thompson will take on the position of branch manager in Marion, after having served as the assistant branch manager for Murphy-Wall’s Carterville location. Thompson mentioned, “We are very excited to come into the Marion market and bring a community bank feel to those who may not have experienced such a personal touch, backed with professionalism.”
“We have a lot to offer Marion,” noted Davis, “The employees here are excited about our continued growth, enabling us to allow new markets to enjoy the benefits of our community bank services. All of our Murphy-Wall loan officers of have invested over 140 years of combined lending and banking expertise in southern Illinois.” Regarding the new venture, he went on to say, “We are ready to serve and become an integral part of the community.”

Murphy-Wall was recently named as one of the newest members of the Marion Chamber of Commerce. Realizing the importance of being involved in the community, Thompson expressed her enthusiasm in how the bank will be playing a part in various school events and area activities.
Having already established a location in Williamson County, the newest addition of a Marion facility follows the opening of their Carterville location in December of 2018. The Murphy-Wall family tree also has branches proudly reaching out through Perry and Jackson Counties, serving southern Illinois. Murphy-Wall is an independent bank, tracing its roots to a founding in Pinckneyville in 1874, serving the Murphysboro community with a second branch, constructed in 2005, and acquired a location in Elkville in 2013.
